Together with the capital of the Czech Republic, the South Moravian Region is one of the most innovative regions in the Czech Republic. It bases its innovative activities on the Regional Innovation Strategy of the South Moravian Region, the objective of which is to coordinate and implement activities enhancing the competitiveness and sustainable development of the region based on talented people, cutting-edge research teams and globally competitive companies. One of the major regional innovation activities is support for emerging companies through incubators, innovation centres and parks. INBIT - Biotechnology Centre focuses primarily on companies in the field of life sciences. It offers modern office and laboratory spaces, pleasant facilities and state-of-the-art technological equipment. The investor of the building of the centre is the South Moravian Region and its operation is managed by the South Moravian Innovation Centre. (www.jic.cz/inbit) INTEMAC is a research centre providing expert services and comprehensive solutions for producers and users of machine tools. The objective of the Centre is to build research-development and educational facilities for the field of machine tools in the Czech Republic which will benefit the development of the competitiveness of the entire sector. INTEMAC is a project implemented by the South Moravian Region in cooperation with the South Moravian Innovation Centre, Brno University of Technology and major engineering companies. The Centre is operated by Intemac Solutions, s.r.o. (www.intemac.cz) INMEC (CEITEC Science Park) is a currently implemented innovative park for companies in the field of advanced technologies and materials, the investor of which is the South Moravian Region. The aim of the INMEC project is to build supporting business infrastructures of the science-technology park, incubator and the centre of technology transfer on the campus of the Brno University of Technology. INMEC will be located immediately adjacent to the implemented project Central European Institute CEITEC with which it will closely cooperate. (www.jic.cz/inmec) The Central European Institute of Technology CEITEC is a scientific research centre which is being established in Brno under the collaboration of six universities and research institutes with the support of the South Moravian Region. It is a complex of modern laboratories with first-class instrumentation and facilities creating optimal conditions for basic and applied research in the field of life sciences and advanced materials and technologies. FNUSA-ICRC is a new generation scientific research centre focusing on the search for new methods, technologies and medication for the effective prevention, early diagnosis and individualized treatment of cardiovascular and neurological diseases.
